Founded on a deep commitment to community and creativity, the Baobichen Foundation formally became a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2020. However, our roots stretch back much further. For over a decade prior, the foundation played an active role in supporting local culture—organizing art exhibits throughout the Bay Area that celebrated ethnic heritage, storytelling, and creative expression. These efforts have earned our funders recognition from city governments, county supervisors, and even members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

As of 2024, the Baobichen Foundation has begun a new chapter—leveraging our organizing spirit and nonprofit platform to address one of the most urgent equity issues of our time: access to artificial intelligence tools and infrastructure. While AI advances rapidly, far too many under-resourced schools, nonprofit organizations, and community clinics are left behind.
